Low Light Photography Secrets
Photographers often think of low light as restricting their ability to take good photos, but nothing could be further from the truth. You see, there are really two ways to view low-light situations, you can try to use it as a creative opportunity or see they must overcome as restricting you. Regardless of how you personally view the situation, there are many things you do to ensure you can get great pictures in low light.
Low light means slow shutter speeds and you need to know how to use this much. If your Shutter speed is too slow to keep the hand you will end up with blurred images (not always a bad thing). Ask yourself, do you want a blurred image or a sharp Picture? If you want a sharp image you need to find a way to support the camera so you can manage the slow shutter speed, or a Find a way to increase the shutter speed. We are some of the techniques you can use to achieve sharp images look briefly at low light.
If you however, that a blurred image you may have to slow down the shutter speed even further, so you can make sure the image is blurred, and is not only Shake. Remember to shake bad technique and obvious. Deliberately blurring an image for creative effects requires a good technique to appear attractive. If You want to experiment with creative blur in low light conditions you try shutter speeds of at least one second or more, and experiment should do with different camera movements. Note also experimenting with a small depth of field and defocus the subject while the camera moves.
Low light opportunities for movement to your images to stress as people move a train station or in a nightclub. It is often the contrast between sharp and fuzzy stationary objects moving objects such as images give complaint. Consider how you could use low-light, these conflicting to produce effect. In some places, the lighting could be high for this, even if you reduce the aperture to the minimum. You can artificially limit light reaching your sensor to achieve shutter speeds of 8 and 10 stop filter, but do not forget you can also use a polarizing filter, which are typically removed 3 stops of light.
Panning is another creative technique that can be used in low light conditions. Simply mount the camera on a tripod and waving to the camera as the shutter button. For best results ensure that the stand level, so that the horizon level throughout the panning. I think more lenses tend to give better results than wide angle. It is helpful to use a cable or remote release, so you do not need to press the shutter how to swing.
If you want to create a sharp picture in low light conditions, conventional wisdom says you should choose a shutter speed try to speed as fast as the focal length of your lens. For example, if you're using a 200mm lens then your shutter speed at least 1 / 200 "or preferably be faster. If your sensor is a cropped frame sensor and has a magnification factor then requires a faster shutter speed as a 200mm lens on a 1.5x crop sensor effective to a 300mm lens to have a shutter speed of 1 / 300 ". However, there are many ways to improve this so that shooting on much longer shutter speeds.
The best and most obvious solution to mount the camera on a tripod support is like, but that's not always possible. In such a case, other sources such as a monopod, beanbag, or terminal. The innovative Gorillapod is very flexible and can be wrapped around railings and posts, a good support. The "reverse monopod is also worth considering, and you can make your own easily with a length of string. Attach a piece of string to the bottom of your camera (I tie it screwed on a tripod quick release plate, my camera) and tie a loop at the other end. Put your Foot through the loop and bring the camera to your eye, so that the string pulls tight. They will experiment a little to get the correct length, but once it was quite easily fits in your pocket need. This is an ideal accessory for inside churches and houses where stands could be banned.
If Your shots need handle is a good technique is crucial. Where possible, try to find a position where you keep to shake against something solid to to reduce. Hold the camera too close or far from you and shake you will introduce. I have a small Sony with a hinged screen that comes in useful for shooting at waist level. I do I find an item with this camera at hip level, which I shoot as slow as ¼ "and yet razor sharp images allows adopted. Brace the camera against something solid and you can achieve even slower shutter speeds. In this shot of the spiral staircase inside the monument, London the shutter speed was more than half a second and was achieved by holding the lens against the railing.
If you take the picture surely come not to snatch at the shot, but carefully press the shutter button. I would also point out, with longer shutter speeds to get to your camera serial images as a single shot switch (if your camera supports it). This allows you to hold down the shutter button and take maybe 3-6 pictures in rapid succession. I've found if I do, that usually at least one of the images comes from the pen despite slow shutter speed very sharp.
ISO is a further increase obvious ways to achieve a faster shutter speed, the noise level increased downside risks. In recent years, camera manufacturers have made great strides in high ISO quality manufactured and you can certainly get usable shots at ISO 800 or 1600th It is important to note also that you put the image and the resolution of the camera be. If you have a 14Mpixel camera and shoot pictures for viewing on the Internet at 800-1200 pixels, then you can get away with higher ISO, as if you were a great Produce A3 + fine art print.
Do you have pictures in RAW or JPG? When shooting in JPEG camera you probably have little or no control over, such as noise from and you can see detail in your image is "mushy". Taken in RAW will allow much post-production control of noise reduction and You fine-tune this to your image, hold far more detail.
Finally, if you image stabilization in the camera or lenses have use of it. I use built mainly Canon equipment, the stabilization in the lenses. With my 70-300mm lens I think it is about 3 extra stops and I can quite happily shoot shutter speeds be improved from 1 / 60 "with a 300mm focal length. My 24-105mm lens for the Canon stabilization claim 4 stations.
Situations little light offer some of the most beautiful and creative light, but you have a good technique must be ready to use when the opportunities to present themselves.
